Of mountains and villages and pretty beaches

It was an early morning!

The plan was to head down to Saikung and trek along the Peninsula. Dc wanted to buy Hang Heung Wife Biscuits so although we woke up nice and early we had to wait for the store to open. In case there is anyone scouring around the internet for this information,

Hang Heung - Mongkok opens at 10am!

Couldn't find this information off google hence we spent the morning eating egg tarts at a random bakery and shopping for more fruits to eat on our trek.

Took a train to Diamond Hill, changed to 94 to reach Sai Kung where it was filled with boats selling dried seafood stuffs.

Hopped on bus 92 to Pak Tam Au where we began our trek on the MacLehouse Trail. Totally unprepared for this long and ardous hike. We went up mountains and down steep slopes. Saiwan seemed like a pretty place to go but as the journey was too long we stopped at Ham Tin.

Cows lying by the trail. Their dung is super curly wurly and is the funniest poop I have seen.

Very little people on the trails. But the people there talk very loudy so for some parts of the walk you can still here voices which is quite reassuring I guess.

Can see the sea in a distance which was where we hiked till! To the beach at Ham Tin.

Passed by some settlements along the way, quite a bit of them were abandoned.

It was so long we thought we got lost! Lucky we met some kind campers along the way who helped us GPS our location a bit. Even though they totally didn't need to. And they offered us a vital bit of information which was boats were available at a pier we passed by.

Finally finally finally we saw this.

15 more mins to go and we reached this lovely place.

Crossing the little river to the beach.

They have positioned themselves excellently as a shopping and eating paradise so it was a pleasant surprise to see this side of Hong Kong! Such beauty!

At beancurd along the little shops by the beach, totally splendid meal with a view.

Our legs were totally dying on our way back. Not prepared for this. Some blog said a leisurely hike but I really don't think so. We were dreading the long hike up again but this skipper saved our lives! After one long hike up, we were so tired and breathless!

While we were walking back we saw a boat at this pier! Remembering advice from kind campers we went to ask for a price and if he could send give us a tide to somewhere we can use public trandportation and he said yes!! He quoted a reasonable price and we were on the boat with some other very kind people as well.

So grateful for nice people in this world! I am always getting myself into situations like that and this is the second time in 3 months! Can't do anything else except keep moving forward even if you are very very tired!

Rewarded ourselves with some
Seafood.

Despite our aching legs, we managed to do a bit more shoppingg before calling it a day. The flight back home was too esrly the next morning!

Scoot really is a great way to fly budget! The seats are so comfortable with adequate leg space! Will definitely go with Scoot again.

Glad I got to try new things on this trip to Hong Kong. Can't wait for my next holiday already and trying desperately not to think about work.
